We’re focused on the development, ownership, and operation of clean, renewable wind, solar, and battery storage power projects.
Our vast experience
Now operating in its 29th year, PowerWorks is focused on the development, ownership, and operation of clean, renewable wind, solar, and battery storage power projects. Generally, our core business involves providing clean, renewable wind and solar power on a wholesale basis to electric utilities and industrial users. To that end, we perform the various project engineering and management services in-house required to develop, build, and operate these wind, solar, and/or storage projects.
Our vast experience by the numbers
During the past 28 years, PowerWorks’ project development experience has involved over 80 wind, solar, and storage projects, in 14 states and 40 countries around the world.
A select history of our operating wind projects and project development assets are described below.
Project experience
Rimi Area, Katsina State, northwestern Nigeria
IdahoThe Sawtooth Wind Farm is located in the Rimi area of Katsina State, northwestern Nigeria; with an installed capacity of 22 megawatts, it generates enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 6,000 households.
Desert Ridge South Africa Wind-Solar-Storage Project
IdahoThe proposed Desert Ridge integrated wind, solar, and storage project is located in the Bedford/Somerset East region of South Africa and is currently in the late stages of development, with work underway on power sales arrangements. It is estimated that, once completed, the project will generate over $1 billion in economic benefits for the local area over its lifecycle.
Altamont Wind Farms
CaliforniaThe Altamont wind project, located in the Altamont Pass, near Livermore (San Francisco Bay Area), California, includes four projects, comprised of 920 wind turbines. For 20 years, PowerWorks Services operated and maintained this project in its state-of-the-art maintenance facility in the Altamont Pass.
Summit Wind Project
CaliforniaOnce our Altamont wind project reached its 30-year design life, we we redeveloped the site to make way for the new 58 MW Summit wind project.
Panther Creek Wind Project
IllinoisIn 2022, PowerWorks completed the development activities for the 54 MW Panther Creek wind project, located in Pike County (near Pittsfield), Illinois, including obtaining a conditional use permit and signing a 20-year power purchase agreement with Prairie Power Inc.
Capabilities
Our experienced project team is designed to provide full-service, “turnkey” capabilities — from early project development and siting, to equipment procurement and construction, to operation and maintenance, and asset management, after startup — focused upon performance and results.
